Gatlinburg, TN

For spring break this year the inlaws were in town. I knew I needed to book at getaway for us all or we’d end up hurting each other, so I booked a quick little trip to Gatlinburg, TN. Gatlinburg is a small vacation town right at the edge of the Great Smoky Mountains with fun shops, bars and sights. I really REALLY wanted to go on some hikes and stay active, but I knew my knee wasn’t ready for that yet so we just explored the town and went on scenic drives. Honestly I ate like crap, drank too much, laughed too much, but in the end it was a nice little getaway.

Beer and moonshine became the standard beginning at….let’s say 2 pm everyday.

A quick drive to Great Smoky Mountains National Park brought us to an Appalachian Trail access point. There were hikers everywhere. People resting, laughing, taking pictures, grabbing a bite, and ready for the next leg of their adventure. Everyone was decked out in full hiking attire and looked like they had really prepared for their once in a lifetime adventure. I was in flats and a cardigan. Totally underdressed, but I know Appalachian Trail, we shall meet again under different circumstances. With slightly more layers on and more appropriate shoes and gear.

Happy Spring Break!
